PROGRAM (3 days / 2 nights)

DAY 1 – Arrival and Farm Experience

Afternoon arrival at Tourist Farm with Apartments Fig Tree. After settling into your apartment, you will be warmly welcomed by your hosts and enjoy an introductory walk around the farm to feel its rhythm and homely atmosphere.

Next, take a guided tour of the mini-museum “Life in Istria”, which will transport you to the times of our grandparents and great-grandparents, revealing how people lived in the Istrian countryside 50, 80, or even 100 years ago. During the tour, you will see farming and household tools, everyday objects, old photographs, and valuable documents – the oldest dating back to 1917.

Through the host’s stories about past customs, family histories, and the challenging yet warm times of the past, you will experience the true heartbeat of Istria long ago. The museum is not just a collection of objects – it is a living story of work, food, family, and tradition that shaped today’s Istrian identity.

After the museum, enjoy a guided walk through the farm’s garden, discovering fruit trees, herbs, and produce that you will later use in a culinary workshop. Along the way, you will meet farm animals, from chickens to turtles, which add to the authentic homely atmosphere.

The day ends in the cozy farm cellar. With a glass of Malvasia or Refošk and local extra virgin olive oil served with sun-dried tomato spread on freshly baked bread, you will discover the true flavors of the farm and the warmth of Istrian hospitality.

DAY 2 – Istrian Culinary Workshop

The second day is dedicated to Istrian flavors and creative experiences with an unforgettable hands-on cooking workshop at Tourist Farm with Apartments Fig Tree.

The culinary workshop is one of the highlights of your visit – authentic, homemade, and full of flavor. Led by your host, Mrs. Olga, who passionately preserves traditional recipes and culinary customs of the Istrian countryside, the workshop takes place in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

The menu is seasonal, using local ingredients grown on the farm or nearby:

  • Spring: wild asparagus – the king of Istrian spring

  • Summer: fragrant homegrown tomatoes, full of sunshine and flavor

  • Autumn: pumpkins in all warm shades and textures

During the workshop, you will prepare four dishes that represent the soul of Istrian home cooking:

  • Istrian spread: a simple yet flavorful traditional starter

  • Seasonal soup: fresh, aromatic ingredients in a delicious traditional dish

  • Homemade gnocchi: hand-shaped, soft, made from an old family recipe

  • Traditional dessert: seasonal, always delicious, made in the traditional way

You will also learn small culinary secrets, tips from our grandparents, stories about Istrian cuisine, and the origins of each dish.

The aroma of freshly baked bread, the taste of olive oil, and the joy of cooking together make this workshop a memorable experience for all generations. The day concludes with tasting the prepared dishes, accompanied by local wine or juice, leaving you with lasting culinary memories.

DAY 3 – Exploring Istria

The final day is for relaxed exploration of Istria’s natural and cultural beauty. You will visit nearby landmarks offering stunning views and photo opportunities:

  • Črni Kal Defensive Tower: an impressive remnant of a medieval fortress, offering one of the most beautiful views of the Istrian hinterland

  • Socerb Castle: a mighty fortress overlooking the Karst edge, offering a unique insight into the region’s history

  • Škocjanski zatok Nature Reserve: peaceful waters, abundant birdlife, and winding paths reveal a softer, tranquil side of Istria

This day is perfect for nature lovers, hikers, and photography enthusiasts, ending your stay in Istria with calm, fresh air, and breathtaking vistas. After returning to Tourist Farm with Apartments Fig Tree, you say farewell and depart home, taking with you new experiences, flavors, and wonderful memories.
